New Zealand sheep shearer's felt shoe

Why are they so comfy?  Made from 100% wool felt, just like our saddle pads, with leather straps and soles, they are all natural and our bodies like that.  Hey, the guys that shear the sheep wear felt shoes and that must say something!

Velcro adjustment

The leather straps have velcro strips so you can adjust them to fit high or low arches, socks or no socks, or simply…..I want ‘em loose today.

When adjusting the straps, keep them in a “criss-cross” shape so that it will hug your toes.  If you make them straight with each other,  your foot will have a tendency to slip through.

Shoe sizing can be a nightmare, so we decided to just measure them in inches…..then there is no guessing about whether they will fit or not.  So take your longest foot measurement from toe to heel and add about 1/4″-1/2″ (depending on your taste in looks).  Then order the size that is that long or longer.  Small is 9 1/2″, medium is 10 1/2″, large is 11 1/2″, and big foot – oops – I mean extra large (not pictured) is 12 1/2″.  For example,  if your foot measures 10″, then choose the size medium.

No other saddle pad or saddle blanket is necessary with the 5 Star Contoured Saddle Pad. Double padding creates movement and slippage. This slippage is usually compensated for by over cinching. The contoured fit of our pads means a limited need for cinching with minimal saddle movement. Square cut pads do not follow a horse’s back contour. Avoid using soap, as you will risk leaving soap residue that might irritate the animal. •When washing, make every effort to wash pad from the center to outer edges in all directions. Simply hang or hold pad by gullet hole and begin rinsing from the center to outer edges of the pad. Rotate the pad as you rinse so that the dirty water flows outward to all the edges rather than just soaking into the pad. NEVER LAY PAD FLAT AND RINSE, as it only drives dirt and sweat salts into the pad. This is true with any type of pad. •Use only enough water to dissolve sweat salts and dirt residue so that they will be carried away in rinse water. Then hang by gullet hole or lay naturally over a rail. DO NOT LAY PAD ON IT’S BACK TO DRY as it will stretch the leather and pull out the inner lacing. After pad is dry, flex pad in the areas that have not softened. This will fluff and loosen the felt which restores optimum compression protection. 5 Star Standard 30″ x 30″ Pad

Our Standard Pad is 30″ x 30″ and comes square skirted as pictured.  You can request it to be round skirted in both the front and the back, or just the back.  (No extra charge….we’re kinda cool that way.)

Our Full Skirt Pad is 32″ x 32″ with a slightly rounded back corner.   That is so when your favorite mount brings his back leg forward, the square corner doesn’t bump into his hip.

Color choices are natural (kinda like oatmeal), black, and chocolate.  Thickness range from 1/2″ for our underpads, to 1 1/8″ on our Supreme Roper.  (Not all colors available in every thickness.)

5 Star Close Contact Pad - Chocolate - 30"x32"

The 5 Star Close Contact pad is 32″ nose to tail and 30″ across.  It curves up under your leg so there is less pad between you and your horse.  It is shaped to fit the butterfly skirted saddles.

PLEASE NOTE that the colored pads may transfer color to lighter colored animals (palomino, white, light grey) so that when you are half asleep and saddling up…..you’ll know exactly where to put your pad!  Seriously, though, it is a vegetable based dye and will not harm them, but if having a tinge of color on their hair is going to bother you, please purchase the “natural/oatmeal” color as it has no dye.

HOW 5 STAR MEASURES OUR CINCHAS.

5 Star cinchas are measured from inside of buckle to inside of buckle. They will measure the correct length under tension equal to being cinched up.
